NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, March 3: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has appealed to the people to allow their daughters to get education, saying that education begins at home.

Speaking at the annual day function of Bahria Foundation College here on Saturday, he said that it was necessary that both the girls and boys got technical education. Dr Arbab said that it was not necessary that every female or male student might get a job or go for a job.

He said that an educated woman could look after her house in a better way and create educational atmosphere in the house, adding that the mother was the most important factor in the society.

He said that he would not compromise over education at any cost. “We all are aware what has happened to our educational system”, he added.

The chief minister said that government schools had good and huge buildings and a government teacher was paid Rs7,000 salary whereas private schools paid Rs1,500 to Rs2,000 monthly salary to teachers and their buildings were also not good. Yet, he added, standard of education in government schools had declined.

Dr Arbab said that teachers’ associations were banned due to contributing to the decline in standard of education. He said that the Sindh government had moved the Supreme Court against a Sindh High Court order to lift the ban

The chief minister said that Bahria College Naushahro Feroze was one of the best Bahria colleges in Sindh. He said that he was ready to grant funds to the college and advised the managing director of the Bahria Foundation to arrange education for students of lower classes as was being done by the Laurence schools.

He said that Mirpurkhas Public School was not being run in a proper way and the managing director of the Bahria Foundation may consider taking over it on contract basis.
