PESHAWAR, March 2: An emergency meeting of the Karachi Customs Agents Association that was held here on Friday decided to form a new body called the All Pakistan Customs Agents Association under the Trade Organisation Ordinance, 2006.

The meeting was presided over by Zahid Hussain Kaazmi, chairman of the Rawalpindi/Islamabad Dry Port Standing Committee.

According to the DTO notification, all chambers, federations, trade groups, associations and other organisations would cease to exist after June 30. Therefore, the meeting decided to form a national customs agents’ association to redress problems of the customs clearing agents on a priority basis.

The meeting also decided to set up an advisory committee under the chairmanship of Zahid Hussain Kaazmi. Other members of the committee are Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, Tariq Siddiqui, Shahid Hamid Khwaja, Abdul Majeed Khan and Javed Iqbal.
