KARACHI, March 2: People complained of intermittent and prolonged power suspensions in various localities of the city on Friday.

Shopkeepers from Motandas Market said power supply to the area was suspended at 11am and restored at 4pm. They said their business was suffering due to the frequent breakdowns and asked the authorities of the Karachi Electric supply Corporation to ensure smooth supply of electricity.

A resident of Pathan Colony, Manghopir Road, said power supply to the colony was suspended at 11am and restored at 2.30pm. The continuous power failures had caused unrest among the consumers, he said.

Complaints of power failures were also received from Gulshan-i-Ghazi, North Nazimabad, I.I. Chundrigar Road, North Karachi, Orangi Town, and Haroonabad.

Meanwhile, the KESC has announced a shutdown schedule for today stating that power may be interrupted from 9am to 5pm in the following areas: Gulistan-i-Jauhar, North Nazimabad, Buffer Zone, Saudabad, Punjabi Para, Darkhshan Society, Shah Faisal Town, Landhi, Korangi Industrial Area, Korangi, Jamshed Town, Mahmoodabad, Hyderabad Colony, Sultanabad, West Wharf, SITE Phase-I Super Highway; Sohrab Goth and North Karachi’s Sector 5F.
