KARACHI, March 2: The Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) No 1, Karachi headed by Ghulam Ali Samito on Friday adjourned the proceedings till March 6, after hearing final arguments from the counsels representing both the sides, in a kidnapping case.

During the course of proceedings, Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Naimat Ali Randhawa presented his final arguments and sought conviction to the accused with award of death penalties.

It may be noted here that Advocate Raza Hashmi counsel for the accused had already completed his arguments in the previous proceedings, contending that the accused were falsely implicated while the prosecution has failed to prove charges made in the case against them.

After hearing final arguments by State's counsel SPP Naimat Ali Randhawa, the Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) has adjourned the matter for judgement.

According to details of the case, accused Qazi Hanifullah, Qazi Farhan, Sikandar Shah and another accused are charged with kidnapping a bank employee Hamid Omer, for ransom on September 20, 2005 from the limits of Clifton. But the accused denied charges and pleaded not guilty.

It was alleged that the accused after kidnapping took Hamid to Peshawar and withdrew Rs20,500 from his ATM card while the victim was recovered by CID police on October 12, 2005 from Peshawar.—APP
