KARACHI, March 1: The Shah Latif Town police recovered the lower torso of a 45-year-old man who was allegedly murdered by his wife and brother.

The police said the head and arms of Imdad were found on February 22 from a desolate place by Shah Latif Town police. They could not make any headway in the mysterious recovery of the body parts until Wednesday when the victim’s elder brother, Alam, came to Karachi from his hometown, Larkana. He went to the police to know what progress had been made in the mysterious disappearance of his brother. The police told him to visit the Edhi Morgue at Sohrab Goth where the head and arms of a middle-aged man were kept for want of identification.

Alam went to the morgue and identified the parts as his brother’s body. He said he suspected the victim’s wife, Islam Bibi, and his youngest brother, Inayat Ali. The police picked them up and they confessed to murdering Imdad Ali. Later, the suspects led the police to the place where they had dumped the lower torso of the victim. Imdad was father of four children and a daily wage earner at Pakistan Steel Mills.

The police quoting the suspects said Inayat Ali had come to Karachi from Larkana two years ago and was living with his brother. On February 22, the victim returned home a little earlier and found his wife and his brother in a compromising position.

The police said Inayat shot his brother dead. Later, he called his friend, a butcher, to dispose the body who chopped off the head and arms of the victim. Later, the suspects threw the parts of the body at two different places. The butcher identified as Shahbaz was also arrested.
