Panthers too good for Wolves

KARACHI, Feb 28: Defending champions Interloop Wolves Faisalabad began their ABN-Amro One-day Gold League Cup campaign on a losing note when they went down by six wickets to Peshawar Panthers at the National Stadium here on Wednesday.

Put into bat, the Wolves were bowled out for 220 in the 49th over with only opener Asif Hussain (94 off 145 balls, five fours and four sixes) and Naved Latif (43 off 49 balls, six fours and one six) making notable contributions.

Pacer Fazle Akbar and slow left-armer Zohaib Khan took three wickets each.

Aftab Khan then hit 84 off 109 balls with 10 fours to see the Panthers home along with Wajahatullah Wasti (41 off 84 balls, two fours) in an unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 125.
