PU registers private candidates

LAHORE, Feb 28: The Punjab University has announced that it is beginning the process of registration for private candidates who plan to appear for the BA/BSc annual examinations for 2008 from Wednesday (today).

The PU will continue to register private candidates for the examination till June 30 this year.

The candidates having passed intermediate or equivalent examination in the year 2006 are eligible to appear for the BA/BSc annual examinations for 2008. Students passing intermediate examination outside from the jurisdiction of the Punjab University will have to attach an NOC from the examination board concerned along with the registration form.

The candidates having A-level qualification are required to provide an equivalent certificate from the Inter-Boards Committee of Chairmen.

Registration forms can be obtained from university’s recommended branches of the Habib Bank, information centre New Campus and can also be downloaded from the PU website www.pu.edu.pk.

ARRANGEMENTS: The PU has completed the necessary arrangements for the conduct of BA/BSc annual examinations for 2007.

The university has dispatched all roll number slips along with datesheets to candidates.

Candidates, who have yet not received their roll number slips, should contact the BA branch of the examination department.

APPROVED: The Higher Education Commission has approved a project of Rs99.74 million for the development of residential facilities for faculty and staff of the Punjab University.

Under this project, the PU will construct 34 new residential houses and a 20-room hostel for bachelor faculty and staff members.

PU vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood has directed project director Sheikh Muhammad Ali and Planning and Development director Azhar Naeem to prepare a master plan for early construction of residential facilities.

WORKSHOP: A three-day workshop on ‘Empowerment research methodology and develpment’ is being organised at the Lahore College for Women University from Thursday.

The Department of Fine Arts is organising the event which will be conducted by senior scholar Iqbal M Khan, president founder member of the ‘Sure Institute’.
