SARGODHA, Feb 26: Unidentified people attempted to remove the record from the court of anti-corruption judge here on the weekend and set the furniture to fire apparently after failing to break open the record room.

The incident came to limelight when the court was opened on Monday. Sources said the men entered the courtroom from retiring room of the judge by breaking windowpane. They also attempted to break the lock of the record room. Though furniture was damaged, the record was neither stolen nor damaged.

Meanwhile, police deployment was increased in the district courts after the incident. Police did not allow people to stand even in verandas. They checked the litigants with metal detectors before entering the courts.

It may be recalled that security has already been tightened in the district courts after the Quetta blast.

Meanwhile, the District Bar Association office-bearers voiced their concern over the incident and criticised the law enforcing agencies. They demanded appropriate measures to protect records and also tight security around the offices of the lawyers.

Police have registered a case against unidentified people. They interrogated the peon of the court.
