Thar Express reaches Zero Point

MIRPURKHAS, Feb 24: The Thar Express carried only 311 passengers to Zero Point railway station on Saturday amidst strict security. Police and Rangers personnel travelled in the train from Karachi to Zero Point.

As many as 208 passengers from India also arrived at Zero Point at 2:30pm. Around 4:30am, the Pakistani train arrived at Mirpurkhas railway station from Hyderabad. Personnel of law-enforcement agencies had sealed the railway station and nobody except the passengers were allowed to enter.

A large number of people and relatives of passengers remained stranded outside the railway station. Before the arrival of the train, the personnel of law-enforcement agencies were deployed to railway tracks to stop entry of unconcerned persons.

As the train reached Mirpurkhas, Rangers personnel boarded it. As many as 37 passengers from Mirpurkhas boarded the train for India. Passengers expressed satisfaction over security arrangements. Some of them said that stringent security had encouraged them to travel.

Our Hyderabad Correspondent adds: Three seats remained vacant as the Thar Express left for Zero Point amid tight security by Rangers at 2:45am on Saturday.

The train had arrived here at 2:20am against its scheduled arrival of 2:05am.
