KARACHI, Feb 24: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Ammal on Saturday, condemning the government’s decision to fix gas prices according to the international market, demanded that this anti-people decision be taken back immediately.

In a statement issued here, MMA MNAs Mohammad Hussain Mehnati and Laiq Khan said that although the petrol prices had gone down in the international market, the government had not reduced the prices of these commodities proportionately and was now robbing the people in the name of the international market.

They said that the huge deposits of the gas were available in the country and it was a national product and no foreign exchange was involved, but its prices were being increased, whereas the bulk of petrol etc was imported and as its prices had lowered the benefit should have been transferred to the masses.

They demanded that the prices of gas should not be enhanced under any pretext, and that the prices of imported fuel petrol etc be lowered.
