LAYYAH, Feb 23: Anti-Corruption Establishment’s (AEC) senior authorities have ordered its Layyah office to continue investigation against the Layyah district naib nazim for contesting local body elections on fake educational certificates.

Union Council Nazim Athar Maqbool had filed an application with Multan AEC additional director Syed Dilawar Abbas in the first week of October, alleging that District Naib Nazim Ameer Muhammad Dullu had contested the union council nazim election on fake matriculation and Dars-e-Nizami certificate.

The AEC started investigation against the naib nazim and found that the district naib nazim had contested the election by forging the matriculation certificate of Gulzar Elahi.

Maqbool moved another application in the mid of January, saying that the he did not want to persue the case and wanted to withdraw it.

The AEC Layyah circle office stopped investigation and informed its senior officials regarding the end of the case. But Abbas ordered them to continue the inquiry.
