ISLAMABAD, Oct 19: Former naval chief Admiral (Rtd) Mansurul Haq, is likely to be indicted on Saturday by an accountability court in kickbacks and commission reference.

During the last hearing, the accountability court was informed that Mr Mansur’s request for bargain had been rejected by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The accused through an application had shown willingness to pay the money he had allegedly received as kickbacks and commission in defence deals.

The bureau rejected his application on the ground that the accused was involved in corruption in which an important institution was maligned.

Admiral Haq is lodged in the Sihala rest house, which has been converted into a sub-jail.

According to NAB, the accused received $3.36 million in commissions, kickbacks and bribes from contractors for supply of defence materials to the navy and put the funds in an offshore company in the name of Titan Europe in Gibraltar.

Subsequently, the accused set up two other offshore companies and the accounts of Titan were transferred to these companies one after the other.

The co-accused, in the case, Amir Lodhi, has already been declared a proclaimed offender.
