ISLAMABAD, Feb 22: The secretary-level talks between Pakistan and India started here on Thursday to discuss security problems for the proposed 2,720-kilometre Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project.

A 10-member Indian delegation headed by Petroleum Secretary M. S. Srinavasan started talks with their Pakistani counterparts on issues pertaining to the laying of the pipeline, transit fee and above all security for the proposed $7 billion project.

Iranian experts are participating in the meeting as observers. Petroleum secretary Ahmad Viqar is leading the Pakistani side. The outcome of the meeting will be shared with the media at a joint press conference here on Friday.
