Wahab jolts Abbottabad

LAHORE, Feb 21: Three wickets in opening spell by Wahab Riaz shook the batting line of the Abbottabad Rhinos and helped the Lahore Lions register a 121-run win in a one-day match of the National Silver League Cup at the Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.

Despite losing openers Salman Butt (2) and Taufeeq Umar (29) cheaply, the Lions scored 282 for loss of eight wickets in allotted 50 overs.

Adnan Raza and Zulqarnain Haider rescued them with timely half-centuries and added 92 runs for the fifth-wicket.

Adnan scored 57 on 75 deliveries while Zulqarnain struck 56 on 70 deliveries.

In reply, Abbottabad Rhinos were out for 161 for loss of nine wickets in 50 overs.

Left-arm medium-pacer Wahab Riaz led the destruction with three wickets for only nine runs in 10 overs.

Asif Khan (42) and Mohammad Saddique (40) were the only prominent scorers for the Rhinos.
