Airline Gold Cup

KARACHI, Feb 20: A Cargo XI beat Passenger XI by 38 runs in the Airline Gold Cup 2007 played at the NBP Sports Complex recently. Batting first, the Airline Cargo XI scored 160 in the allotted 25 overs. Former Test cricketer Shoaib Mohammaed (52) and Aftab Baloch (71) were the salient performers with the bat. Sohail Younus captured 4 for 39.

In reply the Passenger XI was bowled out for just 122. Umar Farooq was the top scorer with a fine 69 while former Test cricketer and chief selector Salahuddin Sallu scored a breezy 25.

Cargo XI skipper Shahid Lateef bagged 3 for 29 and Intezamullah took 3 for 31. M Yahya, Collector of Customs Preventive and patron of Airline Gold Cup was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the prizes.
