DHAKA, Feb 19: India and Bangladesh have agreed to make joint efforts to combat terrorism, which they consider a serious threat to social and economic development at local and international levels.

“Both sides have agreed to jointly combat terrorism, which today poses the gravest challenge to our society and threatens the rapid economic development of our nations,” Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab

Mukherjee told newsmen here prior to his departure after a brief visit on Monday.

Besides, Bangladesh has offered early implementation of the proposed Dhaka-Kolkata passenger train service for better regional connectivity, said Mr Mukherjee.

Supporting Mr Mukherjee’s statement, the acting foreign secretary of Bangladesh, Tawhid Hussain, said the railway authorities of the two countries would decide modalities to implement the project.
