Baitul Maal body asleep

Published February 18, 2007

TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 17: The District Baitul Maal Committee has been ineffective for the last five months and has failed to hold even a single meeting.

A source told Dawn that 30 members were appointed in the district committee on political basis but whenever its chairman called a meeting, it was postponed owing to an incomplete quorum.

As a result the applications of deserving and the needy for financial assistance are pending. The applicants have urged the provincial baitul maal minister to direct the officials to take measures to make the committee functional.
