LAHORE, Feb 17: Security was enhanced in the city and elsewhere in Punjab following the Quetta suicide blast on Saturday.
IGP Ahmad Nasim directed the regional police officers, DIGs and DPOs to make effective security arrangements to check any terrorist and sabotage activities across the province.
In Lahore, SP (security) Ahmad Mobeen said about 3,600 additional police force had been deputed, besides 27 vehicles of mobile squads and 44 motorcycle squads at important places, including Lorry Adda, airport, railway station, official buildings, commercial centres and parking areas.
CM: Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has strongly condemned the bomb blast.
He expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of human lives in the blast.
In a press statement, the chief minister said terrorists were not only the enemy of nation but also enemy of humanity.
He said the government could not be frightened by terrorists and every possible step would be taken for the protection of life and property of the people.
Pervaiz Elahi also prayed for the departed souls of the senior judge, advocates and innocent citizens in the bomb blast and early recovery of the injured. — APP
