KARACHI, Feb 17: Sindh Adviser to Chief Minister for Home Wasim Akhtar on Saturday cancelled licences of four private security agencies due to their involvement in illegal activities.

Presiding over a meeting held to discuss the matters of private security agencies at his office, the adviser said the licence of a company whose security guards were involved in a bank robbery had been cancelled.

Mr Akhtar said the licence of three other security companies were also cancelled as their security guards were involved in various crimes.

He said the police were investigating cases against guards of 36 security companies, of them 26 were registered in 2006 and nine this year.

He instructed security companies to investigate background of security guards thoroughly before employing them.

He also asked the All Pakistan Security Agency Association to prepare computerised data of their security guards, investigate residential addresses of their references and submit written details in this regard to the Home Department.—Staff Reporter
