KARACHI, Feb 17: More Pakistani troops on Saturday left for peace keeping duties in the Democratic Republic of Congo under the aegis of the United Nations.

Another batch of 200 Pakistani peace keepers was seen off by the Deputy Commander Log Area at the airport. The batch will join formidable Pakistani contingent already in place in Congo.

According to a press release of the ISPR, Pakistani troops have earned a repute of being highly dedicated and professional peacekeepers through their commitment to the global peace, sheer professionalism and relief and reconstruction activities.

It claimed that the presence of Pakistani contingents had ensured the peaceful elections in the troubled eastern DR Congo besides normalizing the tense and volatile situation in the region. Pakistan is the single largest contributor of troops for the United Nations peace missions.
