PESHAWAR, Feb 16: Minister for Political Affairs Amir Muqam on Friday inaugurated gas supply to seven union councils near Peshawar city. These union councils included Surezai, Musazai, Mera Kachori, Banda Kachori, Urmar Bala, Urmar Miana and Urmar Payan.

Later, he presided over a meeting of Pesco officials here at the Wapda House and urged Pesco officials to accelerate the pace of work on incomplete electricity projects.

The federal minister, who is also incharge of the projects initiated by the federal government in the province, ordered that the power supply system should be streamlined to curb loadshedding.

He also directed the departments concerned to provide construction material for major Pesco schemes in time to avoid increase in the project cost.

The federal minister ordered that the Shangla grid station be made operational by April and criticised officials for not making it operational on time. He warned of disciplinary action against officials responsible for the delay in the execution of development projects.

The federal minister sanctioned the construction of 132-KV grid stations in Buner and Thakot at a total cost of Rs400 million besides asking the authorities to complete work on Besham feeder and the supply of electricity from Kohistan to Dasu on a priority basis.

The federal minister met a number of delegations at Wapda house and Muslim League house and issued on the spot orders on some of the applications.—APP
