KARACHI, Feb 13: Thar Express will resume its operation between Pakistan and India, via Zero Point and Munabao, on Feb 17. An announcement by the Pakistan Railways on Tuesday said that seat reservations would begin on Feb 15 at 8am at the Karachi City, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas reservation offices.

Thar Express would leave Karachi Cantonment Station at 11pm on Feb 16 for Zero Point station, the announcement said.

Intending passengers have been advised to bring their passports with valid visas, identity cards and other relevant documents for reservation. Passengers have been allowed to carry 35 kg luggage free of charge.

Talking to Indian High Commissioner Satya Brata Palin in Islamabad, Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said: “The resumption of Thar Express will provide opportunity to the people of both the countries to interact after a gap of half-an-year.”

The Indian Railways have informed Pakistan that Thar Express would restart its operation on Feb 17.

The minister said that the Indian idea of operating a freight train on Khokhrapar-Munabao track would be taken up at the foreign ministerial level.—APP
