HYDERABAD, Feb 13: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Tuesday directed the Dadu DPO to ensure production of a girl, Kainat Soomro, before the court on February 16 in response to a petition filed by Ahsan Ali Thebo, who claimed to be her husband.

According to the petitioner, he married Ms Kainat, daughter of Ghulam Nabi, on January 12 and an affidavit of free will was submitted before the civil judge and judicial magistrat-1.

Her father wanted to forcibly marry her to an old man against her will, he said and added that she had even been maltreated with the result that she left her house and married him.

They were living peacefully in his house in Khuda Ki Basti, Kotri, when her father with SHO of Mehar police station came there and ‘kidnapped’ Kainat.

Senior investigating officer of Mehar police station Ghulam Sarwar Panwhar said that Kainat was in the custody of her father and they had observed token hunger strike in Larkana to protest against her alleged rape.
