KARACHI, Feb 13: The Board of Management of the Burns Centre, Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) here on Monday discussed the steps to further improve the working of the medical facility.

The meeting, presided over by the chairman board of governors, Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), Abu Shamim M. Arif, decided to introduce scientific methods to reduce mortality rate.

It was decided that the summary regarding expenditure incurred by the burns centre and its future needs would be forwarded to the government with all the technical details, besides the availability of complete range of medicines for ward and intensive care unit (ICU) would be ensured and the record of the centre would be computerised.

The meeting also took decisions including appointment of one more assistant professor; training for management of burns patients at the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) for the paramedics; awareness campaign on safety measures to prevent burns injury; and separate modern OPD would be established for burns patients.

It was also decided to establish a skin bank; 20 per cent additional remuneration for the government staff; modern equipment like fibre optic bronco scope and other accessories would be also purchased.

Periodical meetings of the staff will be held on a weekly basis in the centre to address routine problems.—APP
