LAHORE, Feb 12: A Pakistani woman settled in USA represented Pakistan in the Alpine Ski event of Asian Winter Games held at Wuhuan Gymnasium in Changchun, China last week.

Nadine Ahmad, with an American partner took part in the figure skating pair event and performed well and finished ahead of Indian competitors to be placed in the middle of the ranking table, Mohammad Latif Butt, vice-president of Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), who watched the games told Dawn, on his arrival on Monday.

He said OCA gasve a special permission to the pair to compete in the 6th edition of the games.

Latif, former secretary Pakistan Olympic Association, said it was the first occasion that a Pakistani female took part in the figure skating.

China topped the medal position with 61 medals, including 19 gold, as many silver and 23 bronze medals, followed by Japan, which aggregated 36 medals (13 gold, nine silver and 14 bronze). South Korea finished third with 33 medals, including nine gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze.
