LAHORE, Feb 20: A girl reportedly committed suicide over a petty issue inside Bhati Gate here on Wednesday.

Quoting her family, police said Uzma, 19, quarrelled with her younger sister, Farah, over a petty issue. She threatened that she would commit suicide when nobody sided with her. The family did not take the threat seriously.

Uzma locked herself in a room and took some poisonous chemical. She was taken to the Mayo Hospital where she died.

Her body was returned to the family without autopsy.

BODY FOUND: The decomposed body of a man, about 30, was recovered from the BRB Canal near the shrine of Pipli Pir.

Police said the man was wearing a track suit suggesting that he belonged to a well-off family. His hands and legs had been tied up with a rope.

MURDER: A man was shot dead over suspicion of illicit relations at Sui Gas Chowk here in Shahdara.

Nadeem suspected that one of his neighbours, Waseem, 26, had relations with his cousin. Following an exchange of hot words, Nadeem fired at Waseem injuring him seriously. The injured was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died.
