Transit train project

Published February 11, 2007

LAHORE, Feb 10: Punjab Transport Minister Ghulam Mohyuddin Chishti has said that the work on the transit train project would be launched within two months. He was speaking at a function after a declamation contest among the children of various city schools on Saturday.

The minister said the train, starting from Ferozepur Road up to Shahdara Town, would help reduce traffic and pollution problems besides providing cheap transport facility to commuters.

Mr Chishti said the government attached great importance to raising literacy rate and for this purpose billions of rupees were being spent in the province.

He said the government would run 100 CNG-fitted buses to minimise pollution and added that buses were also being run for providing pick and drop facility to the school children. — APP
