PESHAWAR, Feb 10: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Liaqat Ahmad Khan has called upon the government to take immediate measures to counter skyrocketing increase in the prices of cement and steel-bar.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Mr Khan expressed concern over raise in the prices of cement and steel-bar, adding that the construction industry of the country would suffer badly, if remedial steps were not taken.

During the last two weeks the prices of cement have been increased to Rs280 from Rs170 per bag, whereas prices of steel bar jumped to Rs38,500 per ton against the previous prices of Rs32,000.
