IB official shot dead in Darra

DARRA ADAMKHEL, Feb 7: An inspector of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) was killed and his driver wounded when two motorcyclists opened fire on his official car near Abbas Chowk here on Wednesday, witnesses and officials said.

Inspector Nazar Mohammad, who was posted in Darra Adamkhel, Frontier Region of Kohat, was returning to Peshawar after covering a tribal jirga held at the Zarghunkhel Khasadar post when the attackers opened Kalashnikov bursts on their car. Nazar and driver Ghulam Nabi suffered bullet injuries and were taken to the Zarghunkhel hospital. Later, they were shifted to the DHQ hospital in Kohat, where Nazar Mohammad died.

The political authorities have launched an operation against criminals hiding in the tribal belt of Darra Adamkhel.
