FAISALABAD, Feb 7: A six-member American consulate delegation, led by principal officer Bryan D Hunt, paid a visit to Faisalabad on Wednesday.

The delegation, comprising economic counsellor Mary Townswick, economic/commercial officer Megan Selmon, economic officer Shenoa Simpson, USAID economic growth officer Amy Meyer and political specialist Zahir Shah Durrani, held a meeting with the Faisalabad Institute of Textile and Fashion Design executives.

The institution office-bearers apprised the delegation of the working and facilities being extended to students for the development of textile sector. The delegates also visited various departments of the institution.

Talking to newsmen, he said the consulate would extend help for the betterment of textile education sector and efforts would be made for the collaboration of the FITFD with the US institutions.

Later, the delegates met the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry executive body and shared views about the textile sector in the district.

The chamber office-bearers asked them to render special relief package to the Pakistani textile exporters as they had been in crisis because of heavy duties imposed by the US. In response, the visiting officials held out assurance that the proposals presented by the chamber would be forwarded to the higher authority.
