KARACHI, Feb 7: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Wednesday called for a more effective role of the lawyers community to eradicate corruption.

He said this while speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of the Karachi Bar Association (KBA).

Earlier, he administered oath and congratulated the new office-bearers of the KBA, including President Qazi Iftikhar, Vice President Abdul Qadir and 15 members of the KBA Managing Committee.

He said the government on its part was taking effective measures against criminal elements, but the role of the lawyers was also significant in eliminating crimes from society.

Dr Arbab said that this was the first time in the history of the province that the government had introduced different development schemes under the Access to Justice Program (AJP) for the provision of more facilities to the judiciary. He further assured of his active support to the officer-bearers of the KBA to solve their genuine problems.—APP
