Painting the town ‘black’

Published February 7, 2007

SIALKOT, Feb 6: An alleged gang has defaced all main hoardings displaying the pictures of female models by spurting black ink on them in almost all urban areas of the district.

The hoardings had been erected by various advertising companies on all main roads, including Sialkot city’s congested Paris Road, Khwaja Safdar Road, Railway Road, Rangpura Road, Shahabpura-Hajipura Road, Abbott Road and Defence Road. Many other localities also were the target of the daredevils who had conducted night-time operations many times in the past.

The advertising agencies and the companies concerned have expressed concern over this practice which, they say, proves a great financial burden on them. They have urged the government to take stock of the situation and check this unhealthy trend.
