KOHAT, Feb 6: Customs authorities on Tuesday seized 1,442 bottles of foreign liquor from a truck-container and arrested an accused.

The deputy collector of customs of the Kohat zone, Mohammad Saleem, acting on a lead provided by Peshawar additional collector Zulfiqar Kazmi, sent a team to Dera Ismail Khan to foil the smuggling attempt.

The staff signalled the truck to stop for checking, but the driver ignored them.

The vehicle was intercepted after a brief chase on the Darraban road.

Upon search of the container, the customs staff found 1,442 bottles of imported liquor worth millions of rupees.

The customs department registered a case under the Customs Act against driver Abdul Hakeem who is being interrogated by a special team.
