PESHAWAR, Feb 5: NWFP Governor Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai on Monday directed the political administration of the Khyber Agency to secure the release of the kidnapped journalist, Suhail Qalandar, and his colleague Niaz Mohammad without any delay.

He issued the orders during a meeting with Fata Law and Order Secretary Arbab Mohammad Arif and Khyber Political Agent Dr Tashfeen Khan at the Governor’s House.

The political agent suspected the involvment of the Shalober Qambarkhel tribe in the case. He said that the respective tribe had been asked to fulfil the collective responsibility under the Frontier Crimes Regulation.

Dr Khan hoped that the kidnapped journalist and his friend would soon be released unconditionally.

Meanwhile, Owners of Peshawar-based newspapers, editors and bureau chiefs of some national dailies and wire services have agreed to set up hunger-strike camp in front of the Peshawar Press Club to press for the recovery of the hostages.
