HYDERABAD, Feb 5: The Awami Tehrik chief Rasool Bux Palijo has warned that the oppressed nations especially Sindhis will never allow the serpent of Kalabagh Dam to raise its head again.

Mr Palijo said while speaking at the party’s general council meeting of the workers of Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Jamshoro and Matiari districts at the Awami House in Qasimabad on Sunday night that people were already groaning under innumerable problems like rampant unemployment, inflation and poor law and order conditions. But now they now being deprived of their river which was their only source of survival, he said.

It was therefore the need of the hour that Sindhis should unite on one platform to combat the situation, he stressed and added the elections or the elected representatives had given people nothing in the past but hallow slogans and false promises.

He rejected elections as a solution to their problems and said that the only solution rested in a united struggle against the illegal and unconstitutional occupation of their land and rampant lawlessness in the country.

The meeting decided to stage a motorcycle rally on February 20 and a torch-light rally on February 22 to motivate people to attend the conference scheduled to be held at Bhitshah on February 25.

The meeting formed five-member committee led by Jami Chandio to hold corner meetings.

LOOTED: Three armed motorcyclists looted a video centre in Bukhari town of Mirpurkhas in the jurisdiction of Satellite Town police station.

Reports reaching here said that the armed robbers took away a DVD player, a sound system and a colour television after holding the owners of Shani video centre hostage.
