KARACHI, Oct 19: Two persons were killed in the city on Friday.

A KMC clerk was throttled. His body was found in Federal B-Area on Friday morning.

The police said that KMC clerk Syed Liaquat Husain, aged 40, was throttled, and his body found near a house in Roshan Bagh Society in Block 19 of Federal B-Area.

The police said that Liaquat worked as a clerk at the municipal office in Pak Colony, and plied taxi-cab in the evening to supplement his income. He resided in Korangi No 5, K-Area. His taxi-cab was also missing, the police said. The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem. The police had not ascertained the motive behind the killing till our going to the press.

Unknown assailants slaughtered a housewife in her house in Gizri. The police said that Vijayanti, aged 28, was found dead lying in a pool of blood in her house in P&T Colony in Gizri, by her husband, Ashok, when he returned from the market.

The body was sent to JPMC for autopsy, where a medicolegal officer said that the woman’s throat was slit by a sharp- edged weapon.

The police said that Vijayanti’s husband worked as a sweeper. The couple had two children. The elder daughter was in school at the time of the incident, and a minor child present in the house.

ACCIDENT: A young man was run over by a water tanker in Civil Lines police limits on Friday.

Abdul Ghani, aged 30, was critically injured when he was hit by a rashly- driven water tanker. People rushed him to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

CARJACKING: Six vehicles — two cars and four motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Friday, the police said.

The cars were hijacked in Clifton and Buffer Zone.

The motorcycles were stolen in Mahmoodabad, Civil Lines, Preedy, and Tipu Sultan.

ROBBERIES: Three robberies were committed in the city on Friday, the police said.

Four bandits barged into the house of Rahim Bakhsh in Malir and got away with cash and valuables.

Dacoits broke into the house of Abdul Rahman, held the family as hostage at gunpoint and looted cash, gold jewellery and other valuables. Bandits intercepted Rashid in Gulbahar and robbed him of cash.

FOUND DEAD: A boy was found dead in a stormwater drain in Mehmoodabad on Friday. The police said that the unidentified boy, who appeared to be an Afghan, probably fell accidentally into the drain which was filled with litter. The body was several days old.

DIES OF BURNS: An elderly man died of burns in a hospital on Friday. The police said that Abdul Sattar, aged 65, a labourer, suffered burns while lighting a gas stove in his house in Landhi. He was admitted to Civil Hospital where he died. He had suffered 80 per cent burns, doctors at the hospital said.
