MIRPURKHAS, Feb 2: The Sindh People’s Youth Organization (SB) staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Friday against lawlessness, price hike and unemployment in the Sindh province.

Carrying banners and placards, the protesters raised slogans against the government.

Speaking on the occasion, Malik Munawar, Zar Wali Khan, Awais Jalbani and Ghaffar Khan said that sense of insecurity among the people had intensified following recent bomb blasts in different parts of the country. They said that country was in the grip of terrorisms due to wrong policies of the government, which had also caused lawlessness, price hike and unemployment.

They condemned the sale of two Karachi islands to a UAE-based company and opposed the proposed construction of Kalabagh dam.

WOMAN HELD: A woman was arrested on the charge of kidnapping a 13-month-old baby from Lalchandabad here on Friday.

Nimra, daughter of Zaheeruddin Ahmed, was playing outside her house when a woman, Rubina Bhambhro, picked her up, wrapped her in her Chaddar and tried to flee. However, she was caught by the people on hue and cry raised by the baby and her parents.

The accused woman was handed over to the police. The father of the baby, lodged an FIR under section 364-A PPC against the woman.

SUICIDE: A youth Zulfiqar alias Julie, committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in his house in ward-A area, Tando Jan Mohammed town, on Friday.

The motive behind the suicide is reported to be some domestic problem. The body was removed to Jhuddo hospital for autopsy.

INJURED: A young motorcyclist was seriously injured when he resisted snatching of his motorcycle near Mehmoodabad railway crossing on Friday evening.

Javed Ali Unnar, a resident of Mehmoodabad, was returning to his home when three armed men intercepted and tried to snatch his motorcycle. One of them opened fire on him when he resisted. As a result, he sustained bullet injuries. The attackers fled.
