KARACHI, Feb 2: The honorary Consul General of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia committed suicide on Friday.

Jawed Arshad, 56, who was also a director of his family concern, Rauf Textile and Priniting Mills, was found shot dead in his house a little after noon.

The Bahadurabad police said he was alone at his bungalow, which also housed the consulate office, in KDA Scheme-I, off Miran Mohammed Shah Road. He was living there with his wife, son and daughter-in-law.

Quoting the family police said Mr Arshad, who had returned home from London 10 days ago, was suffering from depression. He shot himself in the temple when no family member was present in the house. His body was kept at the JPMC for post mortem and other legal formalities.—Staff Reporter
