Navy block Army’s unbeaten run

LAHORE, Feb 1: Pakistan Navy continued their good run in the third Pakistan Premier Football League, defeating national champions Pakistan Army 1-0 at the Naval Physical Training and Sports Centre on Thursday.

Navy once again brushed aside Army who will represent Pakistan in the coming AFC President’s Cup.

The lone goal was scored in the 18th minute when Nomi Martin Gill ran through left-wing and beat goal-keeper Jaffar Khan with a delicate angular hit.

Meanwhile, at the Peoples Sports Complex, Karachi, the match between Wapda and the KPT ended in a 1-1 draw. Wapda must thank their midfielder Zakir Hussain for the vital point that earned them the second spot and Rs200000 award. KPT took the lead in the 18th minute through Abdul Rehman's penalty kick.

Wapda levelled when Zulfiqar Shah’s corner created panic in KPT's area and Zakir was on hand to drive the ball into the left corner. —APP
