Two awarded death sentence

KASUR, Feb 19: Local Additional District and Sessions Judge Nazir Ahmad Gajana on Tuesday awarded life term and death sentence to two persons in a murder case.

The court has also directed convicts Muhammad Sarwar and Ghulam Sarwar to pay a fine of Rs50,000 each. In case of default, they will have to undergo six-year imprisonment each.

Meanwhile, the court acquitted Munawar Husain for having no evidence.

The prosecution said the convicts shot dead retired armyman Muhammad Yasin over an enmity in Husain Khanwala village in 1999.

AXED TO DEATH: A youth was axed to death by a man in Haveli Khushal Singh, Changa Manga on Tuesday.

Reports revealed one Akhtar Ali took Mursaleen in the fields on the pretext of harvesting sugar cane crop and axed him to death.

KILLED: A woman was knocked to death by a speeding bus near Basti Khokhran, Phoolnagar on Tuesday.

According to details, Salma was going with her husband Jaffar Ali when the bus (RNE-6597) knocked her down. She died on the spot.

Ali reportedly refused to get a case registered against the driver.

DEPRIVED: Four bandits on Tuesday snatched cash from Dr Muhammad Aslam and drove away with his motorbike (LOU-5939) near Kot Raja, Phoolnagar.
