PESHAWAR, Feb 19: The provincial customs department seized foreign goods worth over Rs4 million during an anti-smuggling operation in various districts on Tuesday.

According to details, the special squad of Customs Headquarters, Peshawar, seized foreign goods worth Rs1,758,000 from four vehicles during road blockades at various city localities.

Smuggling attempts at Kund were foiled and foreign items worth Rs697,093 were recovered from six vehicles. In Nowshera, the customs staff recovered foreign cloths and auto spare parts worth Rs184,500 from a car, a flying coach and a jeep.

The customs mobile squads in Mardan, during vehicle checking, seized foreign cloths, cigarettes, tea, and electrical appliances worth Rs1,207,700 from five vehicles. While at the customs check-post at Shergarh smuggled goods worth Rs277,000 were seized during the operation.

The customs department to into custody all the vehicles used for smuggling, and cases were registered under the Customs Act.
