HYDERABAD, Jan 23: Hyderabad District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil on Tuesday imposed section 144 banning display of arms, delivery of objectionable speeches and pillion riding in the district on Muharram 9-10.

The section also banned the assembly of five or more persons at a place except Muharram Majalis and processions.

The nazim directed that all the film posters installed near religious places should be removed and the cinema houses should be kept closed during the ban period.

EXAMINATIONS: The controller of examinations of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Hyderabad announced on Tuesday that the annual examinations for Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary Certificate would commence from April 17 and May 22, respectively.

GSTA: The Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA) of Latifabad taluka on Tuesday warned that the association would launch a protest movement if the education department did not solve the problems of secondary school teachers.

The association’s president Zamir Khan and provincial vice-president Safar Memon at a meeting criticised unnecessary delay in the teachers’ promotions and said that the department was sitting on 15 year old cases for the promotion of 500 JSTs.

They criticised the forced transfers of nine teachers posted at Government Noor Mohammad Girls High School and slammed the EDO for putting locks on the association's office at the Government High School Society No.1.
