KARACHI, Jan 23: The members of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence visited the Precision Engineering Complex and reviewed its performance on Tuesday.

Led by its chairperson Fiza Junejo, the committee members were given a briefing on the functions of the organisation by the Senior Vice President of PEC, Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Rafi. The committee members appreciated the PEC services with a focus on establishing a manufacturing enterprise and inducting state of the art technology. The committee was informed that over the years the complex had matured into a world class manufacturing firm and a source of foreign exchange earnings for the PIA. Under the Boeing 777 off-set programme which was launched in March 2006, the PEC had been able to achieve delivery of six consignments, with revenue earnings projected to millions of dollars.

On Monday, the committee had visited the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works where it was informed about the ship building programme that includes construction of Chinese origin frigates, French Agosta submarines and other surface vessels.
