KARACHI, Feb 19: Chinese Consul General in Karachi Lin Shang Lin has said close relations between Pakistan and China are beyond petty interests and are based on principles.

Speaking at a function held here to observe the Chinese new year eve, the consul general said the deep sense of mutual trust and understanding had led to the rare friendship between the people of the two countries and it was getting stronger with the passage of time.

“The relationship is positive and constructive hence developments taking place across the globe have least affected this friendship,” he observed.

According to him, the time-tested affiliation between Pakistan and China could not be dampened by developments taking place with reference to contacts of the two with other countries.

“We, however, need to evolve joint strategies to meet the challenges taking place at international level,” Lin Shang Lin said.

Thanking the Pakistanis for celebrating the festival of Chinese New Year, the consul-general said this reflected the fact that how close the two peoples were to each other.

This, he said, must be further explored through promotion of economic activities between the two.—APP
