SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 22: Some `thieves’ took away Nadra’s machine from Rasoolnagar locality here on Monday. The national database and registration authority had recently installed an automatic machine in the locality to facilitate the general public for payment of utility bills.

A Nadra official said two supervisors had been deployed at the machine from 8am to 4pm. The machine was installed in a room and it was impossible for a non-technical person to remove it, he said and added that the supervisors could be involved in the incident.

B-division police are investigating after taking supervisor Hafiz Nadeem and his colleagues into custody.

The deposited amount to the tune of Rs310,000 was also missing from the machine box.
