PESHAWAR, Jan 19: The Vice-Chief of Army Staff, Gen Ahsan Saleem Hayat, visited the Corps Headquarters on Friday where he was received by the Corps Commander, Lt-Gen M. Hamid Khan.

Gen Ahsan was briefed about the security situation on the western borders and the development work undertaken by the army in the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (Fata).

He expressed satisfaction over the preparedness of the troops and paid rich tribute to them for their professionalism.

He expressed the hope that the ongoing development work would not only put an end to decades-old sense of deprivation among tribal people but would also bring them into the mainstream.

Gen Hayat also called on the governor of the North West Frontier Province, Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai. Matters pertaining to mutual interest came under discussion during the meeting.
