KARACHI, Jan 19: The Sindhi Association of North America has urged the senators of Pakistan, and the members of Sindh Assembly to urgently take up the matter of the sale of two islands off Karachi and demand an inquiry in the matter.

In an e-mail, President SANA Mr Aziz Narejo, requested members of Sindh Assembly to requisition a session to discuss this issue.

He hoped the National Assembly would take up the matter when it met and the provincial assemblies in the other three provinces expressed solidarity with the people of Sindh.

“It is beyond my comprehension, why the Senate, currently in session, has ignored such a serious matter?

Why are the political parties not taking a stand on the issue and demand the deal be cancelled,” asked Mr Narejo.

The SANA chief alleged a few high officials somewhere had clandestinely sold two islands off the coast of Karachi to a foreign company without even consulting the provincial government and the communities that have rightful claim on them.

The SANA chief maintained the issue should not be treated as an issue involving fishermen living in and around Karachi or a problem pertaining to Sindh. “We have to stand with each other. Injustice to one is injustice to all,” he maintained.
