Oprah richest woman in showbiz

NEW YORK, Jan 18: US television talk show host Oprah Winfrey is the richest woman in entertainment, ahead of “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling and lifestyle guru Martha Stewart, according to a list published On Thursday.

Winfrey, with an estimated worth of $1.5 billion, easily tops the Forbes.com list, ahead of boy wizard creator Rowling, with one billion dollars, and businesswoman and home entertaining expert Stewart, with more than $600 million.

Pop divas Madonna, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson take the next four places, with fortunes ranging from $325 million to $150 million, while actress Julia Roberts is the top-placed Hollywood celebrity, with $140 million.

Fellow actress and singer Jennifer Lopez and “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston rank ninth and 10th, each with $110 million.

Former child sitcom stars Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen share some $100 million, putting them on an equal footing with pop princess Britney Spears.

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen is the highest-rated fashion figure, with a personal wealth of $70 million.—AFP
