ISLAMABAD, Jan 15: Burglars broke into the house of staff reporter of daily Dawn, Khawar Mehmood Ghumman, in Margalla Town in broad daylight on Monday and made away with cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs200,000.

The burglars broke into Mr Ghumman’s house (No-12, street No- 23) between 12:30 and 1:30pm when he took his wife and son to a doctor in the federal capital. However, on coming back he found the main gate open and the inside door broken.

“As I entered the room, I found that the burglars had taken away everything they could lay their hands on. They took away jewellery, cash, TV, some watches and other valuables except for a refrigerator, as it was too heavy to be removed in such a hurry,” Mr Ghumman said.

The finger print experts arrived at the scene after hours of the incident. Mr Ghumman said that when he inquired the finger experts about the delay in their arrival, he was told that they were busy, as they had to deal with seven to 12 cases of robbery and burglary daily, which mostly take lace in broad daylight.

Shahzad Town police have registered a case and started investigation. The victim said that he had seen a suspected Alto car parked near his house while leaving for the doctor.

Burglars and robbers have been giving a very tough time to police in the twin cities and in most of cases they use gloves leaving no finger prints behind.

According to citizens, the bands of robbers have recruited children and women who often beg in the streets and observe the entry and exit of various families at different times.
