Anwar picks up 12-wkt haul

RAWALPINDI, Jan 14: Upcoming Karachi Harbour speedster Anwar Ali Khan grabbed a 12-wicket haul but Rawalpindi remain on course for victory in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League tie at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Anwar, the star of Pakistan Under-19 World Cup victory last year, claimed six for 84 as Rawalpindi made 232 in the second innings. Playing only in his second first-class match, Anwar finished with match figures of 12 for 138.But Karachi Harbour, needing 259 for their first win, were reeling at 149 for six at close of play on day three.

Resuming at 122 for five, the home side made a great comeback after being 140 for eight thanks to a stunning partnership of 84 between Sohail Tanvir, who followed his 56 in the first essay with an unbeaten 52, and Najaf Shah (38).
